TOPIC: PURPOSE – DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY
SCRIPTURE: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jeremiah 1:5.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Purpose happens for those who are not afraid to be different, people who are not afraid to do things differently.
It has been confirmed that one way of fulfilling purpose is giving expression to the unique way one has been framed by God.
Everyone is framed uniquely by God. No two individuals are the same in design even if they bear the same name, come from the same family or have physical resemblance.
This means, to conform to a particular way of doing things is to destroy your destiny. Purpose happens for those who are not afraid to be different, people who are not afraid to do things differently.
In my own life, I would have missed a lot of things if I had followed the way people told me things should be done.
For example, there are unique ways I like to sing or play instruments. Someone once told me, “Nobody sings like that; don’t sing like that.” And I told the person, “No! This is my unique way of singing.”
What if I had followed people’s counsel, I would have killed my uniqueness. I probably would not have gotten the songs God gave to us, the same songs which are impacting the world globally today.
In the beginning, when Dr (Mrs) Becky Enenche started singing people almost killed her voice. They said to her, “No! No! No! Don’t sing like that. That is not the way to sing that song.” Meanwhile that is the uppermost range of voice, and with the way she learnt how to sing, she can actually go as high as hitting six or seven octaves in singing.
You see, until you do things in a unique way, people may not recognise you, and if you continue to do it their way, you will most likely kill your potential.
The lesson here is, understand your uniqueness and follow it. Do not kill your potentials because of people’s opinion.
REMEMBER THIS: Purpose happens for those who are not afraid to be different, people who are not afraid to do things differently.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Refuse to conform to people’s opinions.
- Understand your uniqueness and do things in line with your unique frame.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You show me my uniqueness. Help me never to conform to people’s opinion. I receive the grace and courage live according to your unique frame, plan and purpose for my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
