Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor, a lawyer, who allegedly mistreated her 10-year-old house help, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police.

In a statement, Ohaeri Joseph, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Women Affairs, stated that the lawyer is in custody with the weapons used to harm the child included a broken bottle, a knife, and an electric pressing iron.

“Days after the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Ohanenye, placed a N2 million bounty on an Onitsha-based lawyer, Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, for child abuse in Onitsha, she has been arrested.

Ohaeri stated that the ministry would collaborate with the police to initiate an immediate investigation into the matter

The statement adds that the girl is still undergoing medical treatment in the hospital, assuring members of the public that she will get justice.
