Global breakdown of COVID-19 cases over 7.68 million, 426,427 deaths as Brazil becomes 2nd worst with death toll

The global case tally for the coronavirus as reached 7.68 million on Friday,according to data aggregated by Johns Hopkins University. 

The death toll rose to 426,427. More than 3.7 million people have recovered.

The U.S. has the highest case toll in the world at 2.05 million and the highest death toll at 114,703.

Brazil has 828,810 cases and 41,828 fatalities, the data shows which is the second-highest death toll in the world, moving ahead of the U.K.

Russia has has 519,458 cases and 6,819 fatalities. India has moved past the U.K. by case numbers with 308,916 cases and 8,884 deaths.

The U.K. has 294,402 cases and 41,566 deaths, the highest death toll in Europe and now third highest in the world.

Two early hot spots, Spain has 243,209 cases and 27,136 deaths, while Italy has 236,305 cases and 34,223 deaths.

Peru, France Germany, Iran, Turkey Chile, Mexico, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Canada and Bangladesh are next and all ahead of China, where the illness was first reported late last year.
China has 84,229 cases and 4,638 deaths.
