The eight students of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, abducted by unknown gunmen have been released.

The students who lived outside the campus were kidnapped on December 6, 2023, when gunmen invaded the Gandu community.
A community leader in the Keana Local Government Area of the state, Spencer Jerry, who confirmed the release of the students, said they arrived in Kwarra village at about 8 pm on Sunday.

Upon their arrival, the students were transferred to Lafia by police operatives attached to the anti-kidnapping unit.

The District Head of Gandu community, located opposite the university, Abdullahi Mohammed, also confirmed their release.

He also appealed to the state government to ensure that security agencies investigate, arrest, and prosecute those causing unrest in the university community and the state at large.
