The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, for being sensitive and responsive to the clarion call for the disbanding of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

CAN in a statement by the President , Rev Dr Samson Ayokunle, the President said they are aware of the circumstances that led to the agitation, acknowledges the spontaneous nature of protest nationwide while regretting the loss of lives and destruction of some property in the cause of the mass actions.

The Christian body in the statement appreciated the prompt and positive responses of the Federal Government in disbanding SARS but called for sanctions on the bad eggs and total reforms of security agencies instead of the automatic redevelopment of the officers and men of the disbanded unit to other units.

The President went on to call for an Administrative or Judicial Investigation into the disbanded SARS so as to ensure the culprits are brought to book or continue with their old habit of lawlessness.
